“Keep Your Circle Small”

Life is interesting, more especially when get ourselves interesting circles of friends. As a millennial one is constantly being reminded to keep our circles small. I am always self-debating on whether I should make new friends to add to my circle or not.

The expression “Keep your circle small” is widely used in today’s conversations to warn us not to let more people in our lives. Keeping a small circle may seem to be a great way of controlling who should have access to us.

Here are two questions that have largely contributed to my self-debate about keeping the circle small:

1. Looking at the connectedness that got introduced by social media and other human interconnecting platforms does the expression still hold the water?
2. Do we perhaps need to expand the expression to categorise and layer our circles?
